Hello Community:
Here is your weekly 3-E’s breakdown :)
Education:
What is trauma and how do we work to heal it? Trauma is a complex word that gets thrown around quite a bit in pop culture and psychology.
It is important to recognize not necessarily what trauma is but more what trauma does to us spiritually, physiologically and psychologically.
If one thing is for certain, it is that trauma disconnects us from ourselves, disconnects us from our peace with self and our alignment with self and others.
“Trauma is not what happened to you, but rather the wound you sustained”— Dr. Gabor Mate
“Suffering is not what happens as a result of pain, but rather suffering occurs when we try to resist pain”— Dr. Gabor Mate
Education:
Jason Silva speaks about how positive catharsis and deconstructing our perceptual lens has the capacity to make us whole:
Entertainment:
We all know the healing power of music…..so, this week I wanted to share one of my all time favorite performances of a subway musician, Ashley Slim Stevenson covering FleetWood Mac’s Landslide, a song who’s lyrics always cut to the core and whole of life:
“Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Well, I’ve been afraid of changin’
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m getting older too”
